With over 7,107 islands to choose from, the Philippines has a little bit of something for everyone. Home to many stunning white sand beaches, crystal clear waters, lush rice terraces, world class surfing, and diving, the Philippines is slowly becoming a must visit destination.

Visit Cebu!

Right now, Cebu is the fastest growing city in the Philippines, known as the "Queen City of the South." A lot of them speak English, or a mixture "Taglish."

Places to Visit

Cebu City's skyline - The Marcelo Fernan Bridge or Second Mactan Bridge have great views at night,

Tops – You should find a bike to go up there. Great views.

Colon Street

For the luxurious, - SM City Cebu and the Ayala Center Cebu

Some people go to the beach in Mactan, but it’s really not that good. Great beaches are actually 90 minutes away on Moalboal and Alona in Bohol. For a really good beach, go to Bantayan Island.

From the Airport

After going through customs, go to ATM and take out some Philippine pesos.
Easy way: Take a taxi to your hotel. (200-250 pesos)
Cheaper way: take a jeepney.
  1. Find the yellow jeepney at the Departure area that will take you to Marina Mall-"Save More" supermarket.(8 pesos)
  2. Find a jeepney across Marina Mall that goes to Mandaue Highway. The dispatchers usually yell out "Highway-highway-highway!" Stop at Jollibee, corner A.S. Fortuna and Mandaue Highway.
  3. Ride the jeepney that will take you to Ayala Mall. In Ayala, there is a jeepney terminal that brings to most of the places in town.

Taxis

White taxis are cheaper than yellow. NEVER take a private taxi. They will charge you 5x the amount.
They say they don't have change, so have 20s and 50s.
Always insist on meter. Using a meter is the law. If meter is broken, negotiate a fare before moving. (most trips in city are 100 pesos)

Private Driver

If you're interested, I also have a private driver who will take you around in Cebu.

SAFETY

Cebu is very safe at night even for female travelers.
However, there are some pickpockets, mostly children. They try to touch you, distract you, and then steal your wallet. They are very fast, so avoid.
Avoid Colon Street at night – full of homeless and prostitutes.
The greatest danger in Cebu is not people; it’s the traffic. Pedestrians DO NOT have the right of way!
